Jojo Rannazzisi (jojoSOUL) is a percussionist, DJ, teaching artist and performer from Long Island, NY. jojo began drumming at the age of 10 in his elementary school band. He began teaching drum set privately in 1999, while studying music in high school. jojo attended the University of North Texas from 2000-2001, excelling in African and Afro-Cuban percussion. In 2002, jojo began writing music and performing as a professional disc jockey and emcee, while continuing to teach drum lessons. Working as DJ, drum/rhythm instructor, and performer, jojo has provided entertainment for a multitude of events throughout NYC and LI, engaging people to dance, drum, and enjoy. jojo creates music, remixes, edits, and produces sound for theater, film, and dance productions. jojo hosts and produces “Spread the Jam”, a weekly internet broadcast featuring guest musicians, DJs, MCs, poets, comedians, and artists. jojo continues to build his work with his children’s curriculum – “jammin’ with jojo”, as well as performances, DJ events, bookings, and projects.
